Dedicated to the memory of Keith Brown

This page is to remember Andrew Keith Brown, known to all his friends and family as Keith.

Keith was born in Leicester on January 19, 1937. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

During his life Keith was a postal worker (van driver) and hosiery machine operator, but is most widely known for being a driving instructor and bus driver.

When out and about he and Joy would often meet people he had taught to drive, and some 'pupils' became life long friends.

Keith has many friends from his time working on the buses at Midland Red, Midland Fox and Arriva. He was mainly a driver, but also worked in Dispatch. He was a driver on many local Leicester routes and was a National Express driver for quite a while, taking folks to the popular coastal towns and tourism hotspots.

He and Joy were married on 24 September 1966. They have two children, Ashley and Lorna, and Keith also has a son, Steven, from a first short marriage. He has 3 grandchildren, Megan, Jordan and Paige.

Keith had a big operation to remove a kidney in 2012, at the age of 75, which he got through brilliantly well, amazing the doctors. In 2015 he had another big one, to remove a cancerous growth on his liver, which was successful. Before all that he'd had a few minor strokes. He made changes to keep himself healthy and minimise the risk of more, and he didn't have another - this allowed doctors to put him forward for his vital operations.

The gradual onset of vascular dementia started in 2016, and it really took hold of him in 2018. Over the 12 months prior to his death it got worse, and after lockdown when it was impossible to keep him active through his numerous social activities, he went downhill rapidly.

Keith died peacefully early on Friday 8 May 2020 at home with Joy and Ashley by his side. He also leaves his brother Malcolm and sisters Helen and Dorothy.

Everyone involved with providing his care, especially in these past few months, have been brilliant and kind. All his friends have been lovely and kind with him during his confusion from dementia - thank you all so so much x
